Tile Coverage Calculator
Calculate Tiles Needed
Calculation includes 10% wastage to account for cuts, breakage, and future repairs. Standard UK tile box sizes: 600×600mm = 4 tiles/box (1.44 m²), 300×300mm = 11 tiles/box (0.99 m²). Actual tiles per box varies by manufacturer. Always check product specifications and buy extra for future repairs.
How This Calculator Works
This tile calculator works out:
- Total area to tile (length × width in m²)
- Area per tile (based on your tile size)
- Number of tiles needed with 10% wastage allowance
- Approximate boxes needed (based on standard pack sizes)
Why 10% Wastage?
Tile wastage accounts for:
- Cuts around edges, corners, and fixtures
- Breakage during handling and cutting
- Pattern matching for decorative tiles
- Future repairs (always keep spares)
Complex layouts (diagonal, herringbone) may need 15-20% wastage.
